Mary Elgar JP is a keen amateur historian and has just published her first book:
A Mere Country Village Bridgetown 1868 – 2018, a celebration of the town’s 150 year history, supported by the Bridgetown Historical Society. Based on over 40 oral histories, Mary who attended the oral history winter school in Broome said
'It was thanks to your course that I had the courage to do it!
'The accredited Oral History course gave me credentials that I didn’t have from the workshops I attended in Perth. With credentials came courage to consider oral history projects and the success can be seen in the publication of A Mere Country Village. In 2019 I will apply for funding to commence a 2nd project, focussing on the apple industry in Bridgetown from its inception to its demise.'
